Wondering what these 5 skills are? Keep on reading and you will discover...

1)Work in a diverse team

What comes to your mind when hearing the word "team"? Probably a group of people. Right! But that's not enough to define a team. A team is a group of people who share common goals and work together to achieve these goals.

When you go on an internship, you will learn how to work in a team and how to work in a diverse one. As a sneak of what you will gain.

"Team Building" is an essential step to build a team. Your team leader will set the team values, goals, and probably name( if they get fancy)

A team with no vision of what they want to achieve will never work. You will see how your team leader will set a vision and how the team will accomplish it at the end of your experience.

Still, you will also learn to be on time, be responsible, deliver your work on time and communicate concerns. Meaning you will learn to be professional.

We can't talk about team diversity without mentioning how you can develop your adaptability and patience. If you are put in a diverse team, you might find difficulties first to adapt your ways of thinking to theirs and find the balance.

You will learn to adjust to different mindsets and different ages, personalities, and cultures.

2)Learn to be Solution-Oriented (solve problems)

When you go to an internship with AIESEC, you will get to know people working with AIESEC, and one of their qualities is being solution-oriented. No matter what problematic situation they face, they will indeed find a solution

They went through very challenging environments and conditions that they developed that skill or quality.

You will learn that skill too! Let me tell you a secret… You will acquire it even faster! Shhh

Why? Well, because you are in a more challenging environment, with people from all over the world, you will be surrounded by solution-oriented people.

When you decided to go to an internship, meaning you became independent. It's vital to be independent because it is one of the most impactful leaders' qualities

Independence makes you take your own decisions and be responsible for their consequences, making you a reliable person in your professional and personal life.

Finally, you will learn to manage yourself throughout the challenging situations you will be facing. Self-management is an essential skill that will make you stand out in future interviews as it increases your employability.

The better your problem-solving skills, the better your future will get.

3)Accelerate your creativity and innovation

Getting to know people from different countries with different backgrounds, cultures, and traditions is impressive. Is that even possible all at the same time? Yes, it is! An internship in AIESEC will give you all of that.

What good can I get from all the previous? A needed skill in today's market; Creativity.

Interacting with people from different backgrounds, countries, and cultures will give you new insights, new ideas and will make you a more cultured person

You will become the creative person in the room.

With the wide range of ideas you collected from different people, you will become an innovative and out-of-the-box thinker. That skill will take you to further places, as it will increase your capacity to think more creatively.

4)Become an effective communicator

"Communication isn't what we say - it's what the other person understands."

And this what you will learn quickly in an AIESEC internship. How? By communicating with people with different backgrounds (age, country, language, culture, education, experience and social environment)

Effective communication is your ability to make the other person understand what you are saying, no matter what their background is.

How can you do that? We want to ask you a question first. Why do you listen? You listen to learn, to understand, or to enjoy. That's called actively listening

Active listening makes you a better communicator, and one of the most incredible things about it is that it gives you the ability to understand others' points of view.

Is there something else that you can learn concerning communication in an AIESEC internship?

Definitely!

You will acquire a new language. "When you learn a second language, you become better at communicating in your mother tongue as well. This is because you learn to analyze your first language from different angles, as you discover differences and similarities with the new language." Link

5)To be sociable

When you are in a foreign country, you have no choice but to socialize with other people. You can stay alone and not socialize, but we are sure that the moment you decided to go in an internship is when you want to get out of your comfort zone.

You will get the chance to talk to strangers without feeling weird about yourself because people there will eventually know that you are not from there. They will be welcoming. Most countries that have AIESEC internships are very welcoming. Day by day, you will become more sociable.

One of the best things you can do there is to create an impact by spreading positivity in every place you go. People will remember, love, and appreciate you. Say positive words, give compliments, and be the reason the other person smile.

Talking on a professional level, if you speak to 5 people every day for 30 days, you will have built a network of 150 people. You will need that network in the future, as it will help get you more opportunities, get new ideas and standout.
